I couldn't be a single mom..

I have several blogs floating around in my head right now, but I’m just too tired to organize them into some semblance of a coherent string of words. My husband just returned from a week-long trip, and I am worn out after staying with my daughter. I know, I’m being a weenie – I just have one child…but she is a busy little girl and lately has been a mama’s girl (meaning she constantly demands my attention and is NOT interested in anyone else - except maybe the dog). Halfway through the week I realized that I am not cut out to be a single mother. Quite frankly, I don’t know how they do it…especially when they don’t have the support of family or friends. I just couldn’t do this job and be the least bit effective (and keep my sanity) on my own. Needless to say, I’m thankful my husband is back and maybe tomorrow I’ll write those blogs.

It sounds like you had a rough week. Kids definitely go through stages of being more clingy / less clingy. Let's hope that "less clingy" phase is on it's way soon!

And you're a Mom. You're strong. You never know what you can REALLY do until you have to do it. Take this week for example. You may be exhausted, but everyone's alive, right? You did it! :-)

That looks just like my cat!

As I see your precious cutie holding the remote, I chuckle, 'cause my kids misplace those things all the time, and my wife can't understand why I won't start watching a DVD until I have the remote in my hand.

Time to have a second child! (sorry... it's just that, believe it or not, my life got a lot easier when a second child came along to play with the first one.)

LM - Thanks for the encouragement! I'm hopeful that this clingy phase will soon pass. While I love that I'm needed, I also think it hurts her dad's feelings a little!

Craver - It's actually my parents' cat...named Smelly Grey. But he is the coolest. We've decided that all gray cats are awesome. And I know what you mean about the remote - we find all sorts of things hidden in the couch, the trash can, the toy bin...

LL - Glad you're back! A playmate would at times be helpful, but we're not quite there yet :)

What a cutie pie!

And yes, I've often thought what a train wreck I'd be as a single mom. I guess it's a testimony to the grace of God that so many single moms are able to manage in their circumstances.

OMW - I totally agree. I don't know how else you would do it if you didn't have God's grace and strength to rely upon.
